Dr.
Cesar A. Mansibang, Ateneo Professional Schools Registrar, spoke
before the convention of the Registrars’ Circle of the Philippines on
March 11 at the Heritage Hotel in Pasay City. The organization brought
together about a hundred registrars from all over the country for the
two-day second annual convention. The convention theme was
“Re-engineering the Registrar’s Role in Response to Global Education
Needs of the 21st Century”.
Dr. Mansibang told the audience that becoming
effective persons is the key to effective performance in academic
administration. He shared his experience and insights about the
leadership qualities necessary to make a difference in the lives of the
school’s constituents. He said that the person of the registrar does
more than just record and keep students’ data files as a professor does
more than “profess” and a president does more than just “preside.”
The registrar’s role is a sanctifying role that
does not call attention even if the service rendered is a noble one. He
also advised the registrars how to become effective persons drawing from
his knowledge and experience in the academe and in the corporate world.
